ERA Calculator

ERA (Earned Run Average) Calculator quickly measures a pitcher’s average earned runs allowed per nine innings pitched

ERA (Earned Run Average) Calculator is a tool used in baseball or softball to measure how effective a pitcher is at preventing earned runs (runs scored without errors or passed balls). Lower ERA means better performance.

It calculates the average number of earned runs a pitcher allows per nine innings pitched.
The formula is:

ERA = Earned Runs Allowed×9 / Innings Pitched

Example:

  • Earned Runs Allowed: 25
  • Innings Pitched: 100

ERA = 25 x 9 / 100 = 2.25

Meaning: The pitcher gives up an average of 2.25 earned runs per 9 innings, which is excellent.

ERA is one of the most common pitching stats, and a lower ERA generally indicates better performance.
